"I was in a completely different uniform," said Billups, who recently signed a one-day contract with the Clippers after spending the past three seasons with the Nuggets. "Everything was different. Obviously, I knew Scott (Doc Rivers) and the people over there. I just got a really good feel for them." The four-time NBA champion has always trusted his instincts as a basketball player. When he left the Pistons, he felt comfortable doing so. He has always felt comfortable doing so with the Clippers. On Tuesday, Billups is in Las Vegas for the Clippers' media day, his first time in the NBA city where he played for 11 seasons in the NBA and helped the Pistons win three NBA titles. "Just to get a chance to be back in the city where I got drafted in 1995, where I got drafted in a lot of the media events," Billups said. "It will be a good experience for me. I'm excited to get the season going and kind of get in the swing of things." Billups played with Rivers as a member of the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics as the team's assistant coach in 2008. Though the two only got to work together on the Celtics staff, they have a history that goes back almost a decade. Billups' father played for Rivers' brother as a member of the Pistons in 1994-95. Billups has always liked the vibe around the Clippers' media day, which he has attended multiple times throughout his career. "It's a good energy," he said. "They have a good vibe about their team. They're going to win a lot of games." But despite his experience from the Celtics, he is in his first year coaching on the sideline.
